RULES OF THE ROADTomographic images from Alaska are produced by NorthWest Research Associates (NWRA) as part of the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP), jointly directed by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and Office of Naval Research. The selected data posted here are freely available to be downloaded for research purposes. If the data are to be used in publications to appear in refereed journals or conference presentations, please contact Jim Secan or Ed Fremouw at an early stage. This condition is not intended to deter potential users, but rather to ensure that they are informed of any data-quality issues. If images or plots are used directly in a publication or presentation, we would appreciate attribution of the source as NWRA under HAARP funding. If you have other questions, please also contact Jim or Ed. |

Tomographic reconstructions of ionospheric electron density are presented as latitude/altitude slices through the ionosphere near the 145-deg West meridian. Vertical Total Electron Content (TEC) and the F-layer critical frequency (foF2) scaled from the images are displayed as functions of geomagnetic latitude and compared with f0F2 from two ionosondes in Alaska when the latter data are available. |
